St Michael’s Church, woolverstone

We are lucky enough to have a stunning Church nestled within the Woolverstone estate, allowing you to have the most beautiful Church wedding here at Woolverstone Hall.

St Michael’s is part of the Two Rivers Benefice, of five churches - Holbrook, Stutton, Freston, Wherstead and Woolverstone. Despite some renovations in the 1800s, the church continues to be a beautiful example of what is predominantly a 15th century structure, with both the tower and porch remaining untouched. Affectionately known as ‘Church in the Park’ St Michael’s is a delightful setting for a ceremony.

How to have a Church Wedding at Woolverstone

To be able to marry at Woolverstone’s church, couples are required to have a legal connection to the church. This can be created, if it doesn’t already exist, by attending one normal church service per month for six months prior to the reading of the Banns for your wedding.

Either the couple or their parents can make the connection, but it has to be the same person or people at each service. The Two Rivers Benefice prefer it to be the couple intending to marry, so they can get to know them and they can become a part of the church community.

Other legal connections are:

  • Currently live in the parish where they wish to get married

  • Has at any time lived in the parish for a period of 6 months, or

  • Was baptised (christened) in the parish concerned, or

  • Is confirmed and their confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish, or

  • Has at any time regularly attended normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

    OR
That one of their parents, at any time after they were born:

  • Has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months, or

  • Has regularly attended normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months
    OR
That one of their parents or grandparents were married in the parish.
